The Last Piece of Leather
At the edge of a quiet village stood a small workshop that smelled of leather and wood. A kind shoemaker lived there with his wife. He made shoes by hand and mended people's old shoes, but he didn't earn much money.
One evening he opened the wooden chest where he kept his leather. All he found was one piece, just enough for a single pair of shoes.
“This is all we have left,” he told his wife.
She smiled and said, “Let's make the most beautiful pair we can, and then we'll see what happens.”
They sat together in the lamplight, not knowing that this night would be the start of a great surprise.
